Hope you don't mind me pointing out you've got a couple of typos in there.
With a crash and and explosion that rocked the Hub, the great circular iron door that protected them from the outside blew inward, landing in a resounding thud as if it were some gigantic gong.
"and an" in the first part of the sentence - and "with a" not "in a" in the third part.
